Fast and Pray Oct 25

2 Kings 17 (NLT)

13 Again and again the Lord had
sent his prophets and seers
to warn both Israel and Judah:
“Turn from all your evil ways.
Obey my commands
and decrees—the entire law
that I commanded your ancestors
to obey, and that I gave you through
my servants the prophets.”

14 But the Israelites would not listen.
They were as stubborn as their ancestors
who had refused to believe
in the Lord their God.

15 They rejected his decrees
and the covenant he had made
with their ancestors,
and they despised all his warnings.
They worshiped worthless idols,
so they became worthless themselves.
They followed the example
of the nations around them,
disobeying the Lord’s command
not to imitate them.

Daniel 10 (NLT)

1 In the third year of the reign
of King Cyrus of Persia, Daniel
(also known as Belteshazzar)
had another vision.
He understood that the vision
concerned events certain
to happen in the future—times
of war and great hardship.

2 When this vision came to me,
I, Daniel, had been in mourning
for three whole weeks.
3 All that time I had eaten no rich food.
No meat or wine crossed my lips,
and I used no fragrant lotions
until those three weeks had passed.

12 Then he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel.
Since the first day you began to pray
for understanding and to
humble yourself before your God,
your request has been heard in heaven.
I have come in answer to your prayer.

13 But for twenty-one days
the spirit prince of
the kingdom of Persia blocked my way.
Then Michael, one of the archangels,
came to help me, and I left him there
with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia

14 Now I am here to explain what will happen
to your people in the future,
for this vision concerns a time yet to come.”

Psalm 140 (NKJV)

1 Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men;
Preserve me from violent men,

2 Who plan evil things in their hearts;
They continually gather together for war.

3 They sharpen their tongues like a serpent;
The poison of asps is under their lips. Selah

4 Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked;
Preserve me from violent men,
Who have purposed to make my steps stumble.

5 The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords;
They have spread a net by the wayside;
They have set traps for me. Selah

6 I said to the Lord: “You are my God;
Hear the voice of my supplications, O Lord.

7 O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation,
You have covered my head in the day of battle.

8 Do not grant, O Lord, the desires of the wicked;
Do not further his wicked scheme,
Lest they be exalted. Selah

9 “As for the head
of those who surround me,
Let the evil of their lips
cover them;

10 Let burning coals fall upon them;
Let them be cast into the fire,
Into deep pits,
that they rise not up again.

11 Let not a slanderer
be established in the earth;
Let evil hunt the violent man
to overthrow him.”

12 I know that the Lord
will maintain
The cause of the afflicted,
And justice for the poor.

13 Surely the righteous
shall give thanks to Your name;
The upright
shall dwell in Your presence.
