C.O.R.T. Mission Statement

City of refuge training center is a place for refreshing and training.
Our mission is to teach the basics of a house church, street evangelizing and missions.
We are by no means an exhaustive or exclusive in our teaching or methods but we just share what has worked for us.
The House Church is modeled after 1 Corinthians 14:26 which reads: “ What then is the right course, believers? When you meet together, each one has a psalm, a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let everything be constructive and edifying and done for the good of all the church.”
Robert Fitts demonstrated this example to us and it was passed to Roy and Susan Cypher and other OFI ordained house church pastors.
Most times there is food (the breaking of bread) whether in a potluck dinner or just snacks.
We encourage worship, reading the word, scripture discussion. Optional is the taking of communion, but greatly encouraged.
Prayer is a vital part of each meeting we pray for each other, for other churches, for families, relatives, friends, our neighbors, missionaries, the Body of Christ and the lost. We pray for our President, our country, and other countries and for peace as instructed in
1 Peter 2: 1-6 :

1 FIRST OF all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men, 1 Timothy 2:1 .

2 For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life [and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way. 1 Timothy 2:1

3 For such [praying] is good and right, and [it is] pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior, 1Timothy 2:3

4 Who wishes all men to be saved and [increasingly] to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the [divine] Truth. 1 Timothy 2:4

5 For there [is only] one God, and [only] one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5

6 Who gave Himself as a ransom for all [people, a fact that was] attested to at the right and proper time.  1 Timothy 2:6

There is no membership list, all who belong to the Lord are “Members”
The declaration of the house church is: I belong to everything that belongs to Jesus and everything that belongs to Jesus belongs to me. It is not us and them, it’s just us! There’s only one body of Christ! And the problems of the church the whole church are our problems. We are the church and we can do more together than we can do alone!
The church is a people – not a building, an organization, a business or an institution. We are the people of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ Who died on the cross to pay for our sins.
We have a deep desire to see the body of Christ grow in purity and effectiveness. We make no claim to perfection, but we are learning – sharing as we learn.
We need your prayers and kind input as we follow the leading of our Lord Jesus Christ.
